Sofina Firouzi, Vice President, from Canyon Crest Academy (member since 2019)
Sofina is a competitive golfer who started taking lessons when she was 10. She is a key member of the CCA Girls Varsity Golf Team and competes in FCG, TTC, NCJGA and AJGA events. She was nominated and received the 2017 SCPGA Giovanni Villani Sportsmanship Award. She also qualified for the ABIJC-Aaron Baddeley Int’l Jr Championship, The Optimist Int’l Jr. Championship and for the last 3 years The IMG JR. World Championship. She has also competed in Drive, Chip & Putt for the last 3 years where she made it to regionals at Torrey Pines the first year, sub-regionals last year and this year she has just qualified for sub-regionals again. photo credit: robbiesniderphotographer |
Kenneth Zhang, Vice President of Outreach, from Canyon Crest Academy (member since 2019) Kenny has been playing competitive golf since he was 8 years old. He enjoys the nature of competitive golf as well as practicing with his friends. He has qualified for TTC as a 13 year old and competed in several AJGA events too. He has had 2 top five finishes in AJGA events and competed in Junior World the past two years. |
Johnavon Kim, Vice President of Swing Mechanics, from Torrey Pines High School
(member since 2019) Johnavon first started to play the game of golf 5 years ago and never stopped since. It is such a complex game with endless challenges and he can’t seem to stop playing and practicing. He started to play competitively last year and made it onto the Torrey Pines High School varsity golf team. Over the course of the year, he has lowered his score by about 15 shots and he wants others to enjoy the satisfaction of improving and shooting lower scores. |
Jacob Zhang, Secretary, from Torrey Pines High School (member since 2019)
Jacob, a junior at Torrey Pines High school, has been playing golf since 2014 and started in a clinic at Torrey Pines Golf Course. He began playing golf tournaments in 2015 and started playing seriously in 2016. Starting from the beginning of 2019, his tournament scores has drastically improved from the mid 80s to the 70s. He qualified for the prestigious IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championship in 2019. |
Summer Yang, New York University Ambassador (member since 2019)
Summer has been playing golf about ten years. She graduated from Torrey Pines High School in 2020 and had been the top player on the school varsity team for the past years. She qualified to play in the prestigious IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championship many times. She enjoys playing this sport and look forward to play college golf.

Jaycie Stewart, Dallas Baptist University Ambassador (member since 2019)
Jaycie has been golfing for the past 7 years. She started golf at 10 years old and has loved the game ever since. Jaycie plays in tournaments all around Southern California and compete mainly on Toyota Tour Cup through SCPGA. She has qualified for IMG Junior World the past 3 years and verbally committed to play college golf at Dallas Baptist University in November 2018. She loves golf and hope to help grow the game to kids! |
Laura Zhou, Pacific Ridge School Ambassador (member since 2019) Laura is currently a senior at Pacific Ridge School. She began playing in SDJGA and SCPGA tournaments since 2018 and Is looking forward to improving. Laura also plays for the school boys varsity golf team during spring. Throughout the years, golf has taught her a lot of things and has been an important part of her life. |
Ensley Uyeda, Westview High School Ambassador (member since 2019)
Ensley is currently a senior at Westview High School. She has been playing multiple sports all her life and in these past few years she’s really started to work on golf game seriously. Her dad is a professional coach and helps her with her game pretty frequently. Ensley is a member of Westview Women’s Golf Team and competes in some out of school tournaments. |
Brian Hanson, Cathedral Catholic High School Ambassador (member since 2019) Brian has been playing competitive golf for about 3 years. He loves competing and playing with his friends. He currently attends Cathedral Catholic High School and is in his senior year. Brian is a key member of his high school golf team. |
Christopher Liu, Army and Navy Academy Ambassador (member since 2019)
Christopher has been playing golf since the age of 5 and competitively since the age of 9. Golf has been his passion and he has competed in numerous tournaments over the years. Most recently, Christopher won the Porzak Golf Academy Junior Golf Championship and was top 3 at the Sean O’Hair Heritage Golf Championship. He also qualified to play in the prestigious IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championship in 2017 and 2019.

Emily Zhou, Instructor, from Torrey Pines High School (member since 2020) Emily is currently a junior at Torrey Pines High School and plays on the varsity golf team. She started playing golf when she was eleven. Golf has become a really important part of her life throughout the years. Emily enjoys competing and practicing with her friends and also meeting new people in tournaments. |
Zhonghao (Tony) Tian, Washington and Lee University Ambassador (member since 2020)
Tony has been playing competitive golf since he was 12. He graduated from Cathedral Catholic High School in 2021 and had been the top player on the school varsity team. Tony won the SCPGA TTC 2020 winter Q school in order to earn his full exemption for TTC. He competes in multiple tournaments such as AJGA, TTC, SDJGA, and FCG. He enjoys golf and wants to help others have the same opportunity as he does. He is looking forward to playing college golf for Washington and Lee University in Virginia.

Phoenix Kim, Instructor, from Torrey Pines High School (member since 2021)
Phoenix first started playing golf 6 years ago. He has been on and off up until last year when he started to take the game more seriously and play more competitive events. In the past year he has improved his game and lowered his scores and now is on the Torrey Pines High School golf team. He continuously tries to find ways to improve his game in any way possible and enjoys seeing improvement in his scores. |
Bella Villarin, Coronado High School Ambassador (member since 2021)
Bella first picked up a golf club when she was four years old and has been playing competitively since 2018. She is currently a freshman on the Coronado High School girls varsity golf team and plays in SDJGA and NCJGA tournaments. Bella is a proud member of Pro Kids: The First Tee of San Diego, where her fondest memory was attending the 2019 Monterey Trip and playing Cypress Point Club. She is also a staff writer for The Coronado Times, where she highlights the Islanders’ weekly golf matches. As a former military brat, Bella has lived in Japan, Virginia, Singapore, and now California, where she hopes to spread her love of golf through community service and youth engagement. |
Therese Villarin, eV3 Civic High School Ambassador (member since 2021)
Therese started playing golf when she was seven years old and has played competitively since 2020 in FCG and NCJGA. She is currently a senior at e3 Civic High and a level 5 member at Pro Kids: The First Tee of San Diego. Since her school does not have a golf team, she aims to share her love of golf through community outreach activities. |
